150th anniversary of the Straits Settlements

In Conjunction with the celebration of 150th anniversary of the Straits Settlements, Penang Philatelic Society will be organizing a festival of talks and auction on the 27th of August 2017 at Ginger 1 room of 1926 Heritage Hotel, Burma Road, Penang.
The event will start at 1 pm with a bring and show session, where members will share their precious Straits Settlements collection. It will be a rare opportunity to have collectors sharing their historical postal item and documents.
Program of the Event: 1 p.m. Bring-and-show by members 1.30 p.m. talk by Dr Chua Hock Khoon 1.50 p.m. talk by Mr Ng Wee Theng 2.10 p.m. Q&A session 2.20 p.m. Viewing of auction lots 3 p.m. Auction No. 95
The first talk entitled Penang: from Straits Settlements to Malaysia will start after the bring and show session. Our Society Adviser, Dr Chua Hock Khoon as well as President Mr. Ng Wee Theng to be our speakers of the day. Dr Chua who will be tracing the history and highlight as well as on the prominent event of the Straits Settlement and Mr. Ng shall talk about the 1957 Merdeka stamp and FDC. The talk will end with a Q&A session in which both speakers will answer questions from the audience

The second part of the program will be the auction which will start on 3pm. Viewing of auction lots will be from 2.30pm to 3pm.
*Only Penang Philatelic Members can bid for the auction, registration on the spot will be available*
The Event is open to the public, all are welcome to bring and share on the Straits Settlement collection.
